Tallinn
Today we walked though the charming Old City of Tallinn; one
of Northern Europe’s historical gems - the well-preserved Old Town is encircled
by surviving City Walls, Gothic houses and slender-spired churches that add
character to its narrow streets. People looked there looked happy and whilst
tourist abound, you weren’t hassled or worried by hawkers.
The old and the new - The Viru Gate its cylindrical towers
are all that remains of a defence system and are still the main East entrance
to the Old Town.

We also had steak for dinner here one night. Great food poor service..

This church in the Old Town has been beautifully restored after
being almost totally destroyed in WWII on March 9, 1944.

Part of a famous early 15th century painting on canvas
called “Danse macabre”(Dance of Death) by Bernt Notke. It shows Death summoning
representatives from all walks of life to dance along to the grave; including a
pope, emperor, king, child and a labourer.
Outside we saw bumble bees amongst the beautiful flowers
Later that day we visited the City Museum. Here the city
early dependence on trade, then history of occupation and independence was
revealed in displays and themed rooms and floors.
Of course WW2 changed everything
