Reykjavik
Thursday August 31, 2017 - Friday September 1, 2017 We arrived into Reykjavik at early morning. Reykjavik means Smoky Bay in Islandic. Car ownership is high contributing to peak hour and traffic queues We travelled into the countryside Once out of the city on the tour we had our first stop; the Trans Atlantic Ridge at Fingvellir, and noticed the volcanic rock and marshy lakes at first sight. As we walked from the car park saw the fault line along the ground. This is crest of the Mid Atlantic Ridge that separates the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates on the earth’s crust. Iceland is one of the few places in the world that the waterline is not rising but falling; Iceland’s existence is due to the volcanic activity over the ages, and this is continuing and evident almost all over the country and its land mass is increasing.
